Description
Within just a few seconds of finding the creek, it was time to start tasting everything.
For those that do not know, raccoons have many nerve endings in their oh so sensitive
little hands. These nerves feed up to the optical area in the brain. They "see" with their hands.
This is why so often a raccoon will be looking one way and have a hand feeling behind them.

Nice! Jsut wait till Gillie finds something in need of rinsing!
Everything must be rinsed!

Yes that is very important. The real reason raccoons like to put things in water though is that they have very dry mouths. Wetting the food makes eating easier. It also makes watching them great fun😀

Thanks for the info about "seeing with their fingers", just like blind people can. However, I didn't know they had such dry mouths. Thanks for that bit of education! So, Gillie is now out gathering information about the new environment. Nice photo - we even see individual hairs in the fur. Keep up the good work, both photo wise and helping the critters! :-)
