yeah, I'll take Denise's interpretation, lol. They look like they're following the child who's standing up; and I'd be saying, "I hope you know where you're going, 'cause we're a long way from home..." Lovely light on the three, and such intense detail on everything else: The decay, the soot, the darkened bricks, the many textures, and the symphony of lines: These three babies are in front of a whole entourage of visual intensities. And, by comparison, they glow an alabaster white. Really strong contrasts, Claude, and it makes them seem even purer. Stunning composition and light.
