I often wonder how accurate these statues are as to physical features; this one is quite nice!

What a pompous statue. Excellent and interesting shot. Mozart was buried in Vienna, but no one knows exactly where. He was laid in a "general simple grave". The designation of the graves was not prohibited in that time but did not happen in the case of Mozart.

Mozart was Austrian, born and died there. I agree with Denise wondering how accurate these statues actually are. How much creative license was used etc.

catching up on some older items...some great comments here, and yes, Mozart was buried in an undesignated grave, and somehow this monument is so strange by comparison. A bit over the top, he's rather foppish and seems taken with himself; not that Mozart didn't have a foppish side---he had to blend into royal society for his keep. But this is an interpretation of the sculptor, and a bit overboard to my tastes. But, as a photo, you captured the stark bright white, the blue shadows, and the standout presence against that green. And lots of detail in the shot too...Fine job with this ornate homage. I think I'm with Tara that if I get a statue, I'll go with the Goethe model over this one...(Beethoven---whose my favorite classical composer---would've come out of the grave and torn the statue down, if they did this for him)
