Claude, I have to go now, so I had to skip over your beautiful Belvedere Palace shots, and the shot of the person taking a picture of you (or something behind you, lol), and the skyline, and even Mozart---it takes guts for me to pass up Mozart! But I'm at 2 hours and 20 minutes, and I have to go. So I'll end with this.

I'm a fan of but also not a fan of famous-people monuments. They're grand, but also a little absurd to me. Just too much to do in bronze. (Who sits like that?) On the other hand, they are grand, and they're done with painstaking care and add real beauty to wherever they sit. Your pov captures his head against a pillow of leaves. The second layer (there's that word again) is the deep red bricks; and the last layer is the stained gray pedestal. And look: an Austrian pigeon on the bottom---great addition! He's looking at Goethe! (Austrian pigeons read a lotta Goethe.) And you got all the flowing soot from years of rain, etc. It's a full patchwork sight, and you caught the many layers of it beautifully. And there's something oddly 'sad' about Goethe too: His dark silver face seems to be tired or sad, as he's draped out for so many years. A haunting capture as well as monumental; and I have a feeling that you sense all these complexities intuitively and seek them with your camera and in your postwork. A really complex, multi-leveled shot, and beautifully done. Goethe would've approved.

(You know the famous story about Beethoven and Goethe? I probably told you this. They were walking the streets of Vienna, when some dignitaries walked by. Goethe bowed. Beethoven said: "Don't bow to them---they should bow to us!" Unsure if it's true, but I'll take it! A good note to end on. It's a pleasure, Claude. I'm not sure it is for you, having to read so many of my comments in a row; but it's great for me. Wonderful to be immersed in your inner eye.)

This one seems a bit more realistic.

When they ask you about my statue, tell them "More Goethe than Mozart." :P
