In an alternate history scenario, a behemoth Focke-Wulf Ta-400 bomber/reconnaissance aircraft lifts off the runway as a film crew documents the success. I thought I would do this as if it happened at a remote "secret" base. Top secret or not, these events are always "filmed for posterity" of course, but more likely most of the time as some sort of vain aggrandizement of the personal triumph of the principal participants. The Ta-400 in real life never got past the wind tunnel phase. All of its specifications were the designer's estimations. The design was Focke-Wulf's entry into the "Amerika Bomber" program, the ambitious undertaking that intended to field a long-range bomber capable of reaching the continental United States and any other distant country that fell within the Nazi's grandiose ambitions. Luckily it never came to fruition. One shudders to consider what a German victory in North Africa or success in acquiring oil fields in Russia would have meant to their many tentacled dreams. Luckily, history dealt a very different hand.
