Description

Daughter of Pope Alexander VI (Borgia) and Vannozza Catanei courtesan: It was more a victim than victimizer as was usually imagined. Was the instrument in the hands of the Pope for strategic alliances made through appropriate marriages: He lived in a dissolute ga environment because of the mother, involved in countless acts of war because of his brother and husbands. In fact at the end he was loyal and faithful wife, unwilling to court intrigues and able ruler in Ferrara. Lover of the arts, and a woman of great faith. He made a lot of charity towards the church and the poor at his death was received for this in a convent where he is still his grave. He was 39 years old. I dedicate this to reassess the reputation. It appears serene even though surrounded by elements that have ruined the reputation. (The church, war and lust)

Wow that's pretty cool looking. I actually never knew that side of her. I've only heard the Revisionist history.

You should have used she instead of he. Yes, poor Lucrezia. According to "The Story of Civilization" a study was done on the rates of death among aristocratic families in Rome during the Borgia period and before and after. There was no difference. The murderous Borgias were not so murderous after all. A lot of 'history' are the conspiracy theories of the day.

very interesting version of Lucretia Borgia. Thanks for the explanations too. I thought she was as the whole Borgia family...

A most amazing and thought-provoking image and narrative, my friend! I often wonder about how history (as written by man) has skewed the truth... We'll probably never know.
