Description
Near the aquaduct at Pont de Gard there are several olive trees with gnarled trunks and twisted branches.
A plaque has been set in the ground by these trees which reads(in French so hopefully the translation is correct): “I was born in 908 AD in Spain and was planted by the Pont du Gard in 1988 – 1080 years later.”
I love trees with gnarly trunks.

A real old beauty but still in it's prime, If you want to see some real granddaddy's check out Mental Floss.com they have six of the oldest ,one believed to be 9500 years old,it makes fascinating reading. Keep your pics coming it's a great armchair tour of Europe.

How interesting to know this about your incredible, and marvellous photo-shot, Katharine. Haha, here I would like to do a 'family tree research' . I hope your p.c. is okay, now, dear friend!
