Description
A Fremen Warrior steps from his ornithopter to confront one of the giant desert worms of the planet Arrakis. A very Frank Herbert inspired render- I wanted to get the feel of a pulp book cover. Tell me if you think I have been successful in capturing the feel of that era and of the Fremen themselves; possibly one of the most detailed pictures of an imaginary human society that I know of. A race of human exiles the Fremen came to Arrakis because they faced persecution on other worlds. Over the centuries they adapted to the Desert conditions on Arrakis- a planet of rolling dunes where the gigantic sand worms prey on unsuspecting travellers. The Fremen have found ways of riding the sand worms by using a hook to hold open a gap between two of the plates that make up the creatures vast hides. Unable to dive the worm is forced to ride on the surface of the sands; skilful fremen have developed a method of directing the worms to places where they wish to go.

Marvelous style - Ah Dune. Haven't thought about the novel in a dog's age.

I remember Dune! Your rendering style is certainly consistent with some of the artwork of the day. A kind of move away from photo-realism but also not minimalist.

I like the heavy lined, 2D look. Good postwork on that.
