Description
Captured 5/12/10, at beautiful Legg Lake Park, in the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, in not so beautiful South El Monte, California.

I reflected on this for quite a while, and finally found a pic that would be apropos in light of Mark's past postings. Ergo, this is the only lake of appreciable size I could find in my files that I could post in answer to Mark's humongous Lake Michigan. Whereas Lake Michigan changes from ice bound to summerlike, season after season, Legg Lake remains its old boring, never changing self, season after season. You can't win 'em all.
In any event, I want to wish my good and multitalented friend a better year, physically and financially, than he has experienced so far. We all miss his fine art and narrative, from the inadvertent pencil sketches (dogs, etc.) to the more sophisticated maelstrom of color compositions. And let's not forget his marvelous heartfelt dedications to members of Renderosity. He has also given me words of encouragement during my perpetual physical problems. It's been a struggle for him, so here's hoping it changes for the better.
I'm not big on lengthy prose, so that's about it for this go around.
Have a good one, Mark, and enjoy yourself!

A very beautiful capture for Mark and I do hope he has a lovely birthday. As you say he always gives great words of encouragement to everyone. This is a beautiful lake and to have it look like this all year round must be a plus.

Wide open and richly blue; seeing it every day might make it commonplace to some, but its beauty can't be denied. And, after all, it's WATER, in the desert southland! What's not to like? Gorgeous photo tribute for Mark's birthday, and I hope his day was wonderful!

AH! This is a really stunning shot and fits perfectly for a dedi for our friend. :-)

First of all, Harry, you don't have to apologize for the 'length' of your prose: You wrote a beautiful and very touching text for me, and I'm very grateful for every word. Also, your comments are masterful and perceptive and caring, over and over, so you excel in that area as well. And as for your image, it's a painterly vision of this place, I can't get over the glowing yellows inside those greens, and the long light blues of the water, and the deeper pink-tinged blues in the sky. And that band of pure blue water next to the landline---like mist, only it's made of water. And the front shows us what's under the water---beautiful detail. This is a beautiful, dreamy shot, with---to paraphrase you---a year-round timeless glow. (So, even if it doesn't change like Lake Michigan, you presented it with a timeless almost story-book glow.) My lake never looked like this, btw. Even the tower and wires (ie, behind the trees) are melded into the shot beautifully: I remember, in some of your lake shots, that you had to grapple with those wires, because they just didn't mix-in with the shot. But here, they carry on the flow of the trees and sky as effortlessly as ever. (The clouds do too. Your eye was at full attention here!)
Thank you so much for the image and your words. A wonderful dedi, which I deeply appreciate. Esp as I know the year you had (going back a year or more), which doesn't seem to stop your inspiration and beautiful work. Thank you, friend, I appreciate this greatly.
