Description

I promise I will get to all your incredibly beautiful dedications for my birthday---I was gone almost all day and night (but for family health matters, rather than birthday celebrations). But tomorrow and the next day I'll get to you all. But thank you so much for 'coming out' for me! And all of your dedications were beautiful! And yes, my birthday is March 21---but if you posted something on August 15th, I would be just as appreciative, believe me. This is a high key shot of my neighborhood (Lincoln Park), a bit apocalyptic, but mostly real. Thank you again: You're a grand bunch of friends, and I appreciate your gifts more than I can say. Well, I STARTED to comment about your image an hour ago but then I read it was taken in Lincoln Park and that made me think of ‘The Lincoln Park Pirates’ by Steve Goodman. I don’t know if you remember Steve. He’s been gone almost 32 years now. He was a Paul Simon sized Jewish folk singer from Chicago and a lifetime Cubs fan. He wrote the iconic ‘City of New Orleans’.

Of course, I had to go and listen to ‘The Lincoln Park Pirates’, YouTube kept loading up songs so I also heard ‘Vegematic’, ‘My Old Man’, ‘Souvenirs’, and on and on.

So, where was I. Oh yeah, a very cool image and somewhat surreal. I’m thinking it could go well with another song ‘The Future’s So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades’ by by Timbuk3.

Well, I got sidetracked by Mark's link and was thrilled to find Steve Goodman on the Old Grey Whistle Test, which I watched in black and white in 1972 on someone else's Tv as I didn't have one till '76.

I find the colours in your photo so cheerful! It's all a bit grey here at the mo.

This image is just right on! and in time for us, namely the first of March was our first day of Autumn - unfortunately I rarely see these colours, as our trees are mainly 'Evergreens', can you believe that ? LOL... so, the is a real treat, thank YOU Mark T.

Wow, shades of Descanso Gardens and the Fullerton Arboretum in this super capture of the highly colorful and varied foliage, Mark. Glad to see such a park in your vicinity.
