I am also glad to hear you are back even if a bit slow. I am always slow with no real good excuse either. Maybe I can use old age as an excuse ::))
Also you got the Dutch birthday greetings correct with the second wish Gefeliciteerd met jouw verjaardag. Here everyone says congratulations. In fact, if you have a birthday party everyone who comes not only says Gefeliciteerd to the birthday person, but also to everyone else that they greet at the party. I had to learn how to do that as well as always saying my name when I meet someone the first time and shake their hand. As you shake hands you each state your name. It is more common than what in the States is considered an introduction, but it is certainly faster. Now if I could only catch the name when they say it..usually it is too fast for my old ears.

Ah, the prodigal son returns if only for a moment. This is a great catch, especially the spray on the right, and a wonderful gift for Katherine on her birthday. I hope your physical therapy went well and that you are finding the time to get some rest. Don't pay attention to those voices who are saying "You can sleep when you're dead".

I thought the sun was a sphere, but apparently it's a six sided blunt star. Sunburst, waves, glistening reflections & a splash that has broken up into thousands of individual water droplets - you've packed a lot into one shot! Hope your therapy is progressing well, Mark, & that you regain your energy...

you came back with a great catch

Excellent into-the-sun-which-looks-like-a-supernova capture of Lake Michigan snapped under warmer conditions with a terrific ocean ambiance, Mark, plus, I echo photosynthesis in his comment. And, how come SunriseGirl hasn't shown up in re my gallery postings?

This strikes a deep cord with me. Many hours in childhood playing along the beach in front of our house.

This colour combination is one that reaches out and grabs me every time, those lush plums and golds; a riot of richness spread over the sea and sky, beautifully captured. I hope you're doing well, and take the time you need to heal; we miss you but we'll be waiting patiently. Happy birthday Katherine!
