Description
Taken in Portland in an old warehouse neighborhood that has been converted into a kind of trendy shopping district with interesting stores & restaurants. We were making a return visit to a very unique retail store called Cargo & this mural was right across the street from it. Cargo is a 20,000 foot warehouse on two floors that contains all sorts of unique imports that are mostly from Asia, Africa & South America. Everything from toys, jewelry, clothing & trinkets to artwork & antique furniture, but what I personally found most fascinating were artifacts from China, such as fragments of architecture (gates, pillars, statuary, etc.) that looked to be centuries old & framed propaganda posters of Mao from the 1950's. I probably could have had a field day taking photos in there, but just wasn't in the mood that day & just felt like wandering & looking. I highly recommend it if you're visiting Portland & you enjoy that kind of thing...

It sounds like a lovely shopping day. I love places like that too. And what a great mural to liven up the old place. :)

A great work of art, and I should very much enjoy the warehouse!

A very eye catching mural. I love how they are making more use of the big empty spaces. We are getting artists from all over the world coming here to do murals which is great. ☺

I think businesses are beginning to realize that the outsit art draws people inside.
Great capture

Great capture of the utterly fabulous mural, seemingly a colorful contrast to the rest of the warehouse area. Actually, it reminds me of one of the 65" television sets I see displayed at Walmart. And, you included railroad tracks in the scene, one of my favorite subject matter. Too bad you weren't in the mood for further photography in that part of the neighborhood.

Spectacular mural, that's a real eye-catcher. I haven't been to Portland for quite a long number of years!
