Description

I've been in an experimental mood lately & since I won't be able to post for a few days after today, I thought I'd post five variations all derived from the same starting point - strange looking tree bark that I first photographed a couple of years ago in Laurelhurst Park in Portland. We recently were back there & I took this closeup & began playing with it in Photoshop. This first one is a pretty simple monochrome treatment which I thought brought out the texture more dramatically than the original. Since I won't be including the original at all, here's the shot I posted back in 2014...

Wild - almost like a tree in a fantasy forest

I looked at the original, and this is a wonderful variant! Rather menacing in this colour.

It almost seems underwater as a result of the colour, and it suits quite well!

Oh wow, up close with King Kong in this spectacular bark image. Love those textures.

I'm skipping all over...and btw, I love the variations/manipulations you've been doing of late. If I get the time this evening, I'll get to your most recent shots. But for now...This is monochromatic, but there are some reddish-slate hues, some sliver blues, some dark blues, some bright almost neon blues, etc. It's very active, in other words. You brought out the cataclysms of this bark-face, and canyons and eerily lit highlights. Like a face made of newly hardened lava. Fine work.
