I bought these years ago in G&T's and have used some in the sculpted heads in my garden. The are about the size of golf balls. See all three pairs Here

Interesting artifacts. I have to agree with Mr. Carew, these could well scare the hell out of you if you came upon them unprepared. And the story of grandfather's glass eye reminded me of the late American actor Peter Falk. He lost an eye from an accident when he was nine. In high school, whenever the teacher had to leave the room she would leave Falk in charge. He was in the habit of taking out his glass eye, putting it on the teacher's desk and proclaiming, "I have my eye on you." And, yes, these eyes could use some sleep.
