Description

There are hours, days, years when you think back to moments of brilliance in the past but we must always keep in mind that the past is beautiful only if you lived well then. So to have a good future is best not to be sad but go and built the best present possible now !!

Thank you for those stimulating words and that super ballet image. I'm 88, and I strive daily to look forward and forget my less than wonderful past.

Some amazing words, but also an amazing image, I visualize ballerinas practising Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake'... 😌

Great piece once again! Love the concept and realisation and especially the use of the materials and textures to contrast the shining perfection of youth against the more weathered reality of age and wisdom!

"Benedetto sia 'l giorno, et 'l mese, et l'anno,/et la stagione, e 'l tempo, et l'ora, e 'l punto,/e 'l bel paese, e 'l loco ov'io fui giunto/da'duo begli occhi che legato m'ànno..." Another stunning image from you, Giuliano. The woman on the right is torn by memory, and bad memory: You created a brilliant image, she is part human, and part statue, and part decaying machine...she's a human torn by her past, and yearning to create a better one (or yearning to create a better future). She has a touching expression on her face; and she's almost praying or begging. Brilliant, Giuliano. And she's covered in 'soot' (fuliggine?), as if she's been kneeling there for many years...

Behind her---on the right---a tree, which looks wilted and sad. Perhaps it's part of her past, standing alone and weeping. But on the left? Ballerinas. They're doing ballet steps, and they are elated. Once more, you have used chrome and metallic effects for human beings; and it makes the dancers like shining lights, as well as like human beings. Their silvery chrome suggests that they are a dream, a memory---but a shining memory.

Finally, this whole scene unfolds over one of your shallow bodies of water, with a primal textured sky behind. And the entire image is doused in a deep melancholy purple---a "dream purple"---which feels like 'memory' to me. You've portrayed your words brilliantly, as you always do; and you've created a memory this woman would like to have...and maybe one day she will. Beautifully done, Giuliano. Another great render from you.

(Io scriverò in italiano la prossima volta: a volte ho paura che il mio italiano è così povero, sarà senza senso...)
