Description

This shot, taken at Duxfords Battle Of Britain Airshow was taken (with Neil) at the far end of the field.. Due to the crash at Shoreham and the general panic and H&S nutters kicking in, aircraft took off at the other end and landed there as well.. The other way was over a Motorway, (which by the way, even despite all these changes some arse head killed himself gazing at the aircraft and hit a truck!) This caused two delays to the show and most of the Typhoon / Spitfire one to be missed! Anyway, this photo, taken really close, is of The Fighter Collections Gloster Gladiator Mk II and Historic Aircraft Collections (HAC) Hawker Nimrod Mk I running up and waiting for the OK to move onto the field.. Couldn't miss really, and Spits looked good here as well.. Nimrods were used during the Battle for AA Observation and Instruction Frames and Gladiators were still operational and made kills here., The Gladiator was built in 1939 and the Nimrod 1934. Make the most of these very few new ones this year, rules changing shows for very much the worse.. Used Akvis Refocus here Rob

Beautiful photo! I knew about the Gladiators, but haven't heard about the Nimrod until now. 1934 and used for obervation - suggests they were slow. And considering the Me109s etc., they were in hot water. A pity that one can NOT have anything without these lib-retards causing trouble! And then a fool plane spotting while driving. Almost serves him/her right, except pity the poor family for that foolishness. Now for a closer look at these planes. Excellent image quality!Keep up the good work! :-)

My rating - 6+

And thanks for reply via PM. I'll get back to you tomorrow! Had a lot to do today.

Normally I've a "roaring speed", WWII monoplane guy... but I love the look of the pre-war Hawker bipes. They're just... magical in that doped aluminum. As for the Gladiator... well, I love an underdog!

Great photo, hope you've got more stashed away.

News of the changes to UK air shows has already reached this side of the pond. Bureaucrats & politicians Always insist on "taking action" even when it's pointless... just to appeal to the general voters who don't know the difference.

Glad to see you back.

Sweet, sweet shot, Rob! What a beauty!

Despite all the H&S buttmunchers and their silly rules, the idiots will still find a way to off themselves. You just can't legislate stupidity out of existence...
