Stunning juxtaposition. And again, zoom is essential. The green and yellow leaves in the background, with brilliant light half-dissolving the edges, are a total 'shock' of contrast to this foreground deep, hot pink flower, with 'flames' of yellow coming out of it, and almost neon light-pinks as highlights. In fact the lighter petal hues are almost painted on, as with opaque whites or pastels (chalks of some kind). The reds and pinks are deep and near-obliterating, suggesting the deep power of the flower. When one considers that the flower is the sexual attraction for the tree or plant, it's no wonder it has so much visual power. I can't help but think of Georgia O'Keeffe with this shot: It has that ultra inner-power red and pink; and the way the hues wash over the shapes reminds me of her too. There are some who would find this too abstract for a "flower photo," but to me it's an inner flower photo, capturing the essence of the flower---which is very powerful. And it's brilliant.
Here are two O'Keeffe's with those reds/hot pinks I talked about. https://img.kingandmcgaw.com/i/prints/lg/8/0/80257.jpg http://gardeninggonewild.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/OKeefe-red-poppyc2.jpg
