Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I love these, so pretty. I wonder if they are the same ones we have here? They start out white and change to this color as they mature.

I'm skipping a bit so I can cover a little more ground. Another sensual beautiful shot of these beauties, this one in light and dark pinks, with the most sensuous surfaces. The darker one seems almost lit from within, and those orange stamens are also like lights (on both frontal flowers, as well as the one to the left, bottom). Beautifully composed., with those yellow fingered buds waiting to burst open. Another beautiful shot of these flowers.
(Did I say, on the last one of these, that Osteospermum means "bone-seed"? That's not gonna change your outlook on life--assuming you didn't already know it--but it's another case of where the botanical name has little to do with the way the flower looks. I assume it describes the seed...Well hey, I don't get to use my tiny remainders of greek and latin too often, so you gotta humor me here...I'm working to get my own botanical name. I'll announce it when I get it...)
