Description


There are still some signs of late Roman work, although quarrying continued here until the 20th century. The sign I saw which I cropped and included at the bottom of the photo did not give any detailed information

They were very precise in their work. This looks like the ruins of a building.

I thought the same thing at the time thus when I saw the sign of what it actually was I had to take a photo of it to go with the quarry photo. This part and the Triumphal Arch and Mausoleum were outside the entrance. You could see these things without paying. We did not have our handy little guide map yet when I saw this quarry.

Having tried my hand at "shaping" stones, I have determined that it's much easier to find rocks that fit the need.

One other point to mention is that you can EDIT your post at any time (check the "ownership" box at the bottom) and correct or change anything in it... except the image... that gets a little squirrelly :)

Yes, the Romans have left their marks everywhere. Very interesting shot and thanks for including the sign.
