Description

The King has cause for concern regarding the Baron's falling apart castle. There is a threat of invasion of the kingdom and the Baron's estate sits on the border. His fortress will be the first line of defense in the event diplomatic negotiations fail. Once the Baron arrives, he graciously apologises for not being there to greet his Highness right away. He and his sister enjoy their daily walk, he explains and was not aware the King was going to pay them a visit. They all retire inside where refreshments are provided and the King can inform the Baron of the impending possibilities of war. 'I must have your fortress in better shape, Baron. How could you let it slide like this?' 'I am sorry, your Highness, but times have been very hard here the past few years. We have suffered many crop failures in a row and most of my serfs perished in the last plague. There is very little help left other than a few serfs, myself, my sister and my son here to keep the old place up.' 'Well, this must be remedied right away! I will send a large enough contingent of workers and craftsmen to repair this castle and get it ready for whatever may be!' 'Thank you, your Highness. But how will I ever pay for these repairs?' 'You are not to worry, Baron. This is a national defense project and will be taken care of out of the treasury. Of course, you won't mind if we station a garrison of soldiers here for awhile do you?'
