Description
Taken at Shuttleworth Collection, here are two aircraft of such rarity and fame that they almost never leave the airfield, I believe the Comet never has..
The Comet I'm mentioned before, here you can see just how small it was in there AND remember this seated TWO people.
The Mew Gull, has been called and I quote here ' The Holy Grail of British Air Racing'. Very fast and very small, they reached speeds of 265mph and broke so many records and won so many races I can't possibly list them here, they effectively ruled the mid 30's regarding Air Racing..
Only six were ever built and all had names, this was 'The Golden City'.
Alex Henshaw owned it and won several races but this aircraft and Alex set a new class UK to the Cape record, it was only broken in 2009! Yes 2009!.
Alex Henshaw was to become Vickers Aircraft chief test pilot..
Such a picture and sound..

This gave me a laugh! The way the photo is taken makes it look like the Gull is giving the Comet a helping push! Nice to see these rarities in the air. How did they get the passenger in behind the pilot in the Comet - with a crow bar? Looks very cramped. What happens if someones leg gets cramps (and, there's NO loo on board, either!). I think I'll stay on the ground! Nice job! Keep it up! :-)
My rating - a 7 on the laughter scale!

"Such a picture and sound.. Rob" I turned up the sound on my new computer and despite the upgraded sound blaster card I hear nothing. I guess it is time to respond to all those hearing aid adverts they send me in my retirement park. Gee, I know zip about planes, but I assumed the twin engine with the wheels up is the speedster. Now 2009 to break record. I have to believe there is some restrictions for that record because as dumb as I am I know that many WW2 aircraft went faster than 265 mph and in 2009 I believe there were some that went Mach 6 or so (Blackbird). Say promo for War Thunder I see it is across many platforms, I assume it would be hard to compete with computer VS PS4. Maybe that's why you are down in flames...LOL

The twin is the real rarity in survivors but the tiny one and it's long range records show how frontal area has a overall golden value.
