Description
We went to a local street fair called "Art in Bloom" last weekend & while everyone was perusing the craft booths, I think I may have been one of the very few in attendance who noticed this pigeon that had found a home in a hole in the side of a building that was undergoing restoration. He would perch there for a few seconds watching the crowds, then fly out a few feet away, then retreat back into his hole out of sight, then repeat the process again & again. I watched him for a few minutes & was finally able to get this shot...

I'll be returning for more, but I had to comment on this tonight. This is a great shot. First, the colors are eye popping. And the contrasts---of orange with bright yellow, the luminous greens and purples of the pigeon against the black---are equally eye popping. The textures are a beautiful abstract. The angle is elusive because parts of the image appear flush with us, yet the bird is clearly standing on an angle. I love the pulls of angles. And the deep black is just great in the middle of all this color. Plus, as a shot of decay and life combined, it's terrific. Great shot. Loved it when it went up, love it now.
Btw, I'll be doing my bday dedi for you sometime this week/weekend. (It won't be a 3-upload job like last year, as I'm barely getting out art these days---you can't imagine what it was like posting at all, this last month! But I'll honor you nevertheless! Stay tuned...)
