Description

This view from the Long Bien Bridge is upstream along the right arm of the Red River. The Long Bien Bridge across the Red River is a historic cantilever bridge that connects two districts, Hoan Kiem and Long Bien, of the City of Hanoi, Vietnam. The bridge was built in 1899-1902 and opened in 1903. Before North Vietnam's independence in 1954 it was called Paul-Doumer Bridge. At 2.4 km in length it was at one time one of the longest bridges in Asia. It was heavily bombed during the Vietnam War due to the fact that at the time it was the only bridge across the Red River connecting Hanoi to the main port of Haiphong. This picture was taken on 29 August 2012, Sig..

What a shot. It seems almost unreal to see how some people live. And the info is very interesting. I hope we get to see a photo of the bridge itself also.

@SunriseGirl! I didn't take a picture of the entire bridge since that would have involved going into a neighborhood that didn't look too safe, but I posted a couple of pictures of some activity on the bridge!
