Description
"TATE!" Cries Hayden in disbelief.
Tate hears her voice and thinks it has to be the most beautiful sound he has ever heard. He wants nothing more than to move towards her, but his body is unresponsive, drained to near death from the exertion of battle. Instead he calls out to her...but again his body does not cooperate and no sound flows from his lips.
"Look at them all." Says Grys. "He must of taken out over a hundred of them single handedly."
"I see them." Replies Crete. "I didn't think Tate was capable of such a feat, I miss judged him. This is impressive."
"Oh no!" Shrieks Hayden. "That skeleton is going to kill him."
Hearing this Tate turns back to the skeleton king, but as he does his arms collapse unable to sustain his body weight any longer. He feels his chin slam into the hard stone floor and everything goes black.
"Not if I can help it!" Says Crete.
Crete draws back his arm and hurls one his hammers at the skeleton king. If everyone hadn't seen him throw it, it would have almost been invisible, it moves so fast the naked eye can't even follow. The result however is anything but invisible, when the hammer strikes the skeleton kings armor their is an explosion of sound. His magical armor buckles under the force of the magical hammer lifting the skeleton king from his feet and slamming his against the distant wall.
The skeleton king laughs defiantly. "A truly worthy opponent at last."
The group moves into the room as the skeleton king rises to his feet now clutching Crete's hammer.
"I don't have a weapon." Says Hayden concerned. "I can't protect myself."
To everyone's amazement Crete reaches back and pulls the sword with the skull pommel from his back and hands it to Hayden. "This sword is designed for the undead." He tells her. "It will keep you safe."
"Thank you." Says Hayden sincerely.
Crete gives her a half smile. "I'm not giving it to you, it's a loan. Use it, strike true and make me proud." He then turns his attention back to the skeleton king across the room and says ever so softly. "I have a hammer to get back."
"Be careful." Is all Hayden is able to say before Crete begins moving directly towards the king, he is one focused man. She thinks to herself.
Meanwhile Hayden sees that Hades and Grys split, going opposite directions upon entering the room. Titan chose to follow Grys and is stabbing skeletons with his spear to the best of his ability while Bit chose to remain by my side. I watch Hades flaming short swords cut skeletons down better than I would have thought possible. Flame on bone should have little effect, but the fire itself burns so hot it seems to melt right through the bone upon contact. But even more surprising still is Grys, he now has two crossbows and is decimating the skeletons. Where he has been storing them this entire time is beyond me, but it is clear they are highly magical. For starters, one of the crossbow reloads automatically and is able to fire at twenty times the rate of normal crossbow. So though arrows would normally have little effect on bone, this crossbow overwhelms any skeleton joint with sheer volume. He seems to prefer focusing on the necks and taking the skeletons heads clear off. His other crossbow is larger and reloads as well but this one fires at a normal rate, the difference is in its force of impact. The bolts are slightly longer and either blow the skeletons apart upon impact or pin them to walls leaving them helpless.
Hayden sees a skeleton in her peripheral vision hoping to catch her unaware. She spins quickly holding Crete's sword before her and the skeleton stops immediately. Hayden is amazed at how much emotion a skull is able to manage, it's obvious that this skeleton is suddenly terrified! Can it sense the power of the blade? Wonders Hayden. The skeleton wastes no time and turns to flee, but Hayden now curious thrusts the blade into its back, it's body instantly goes limp and its eyes extinguish. That wasn't the spectacle she was expecting, but regardless she can't argue with the result. The blade kills the undead upon contact!
Crete stops a few feet before the skeleton king. "Give me my hammer back and I will make your death quick." Says Crete in a tone that leaves little room for interpretation.
"What are you?" Asks the king. "A demon within a tainted mortal body?"
Crete shows no signs of emotion after hearing the skeleton kings questions. "Are you declining to return my hammer?" Asks Crete casually.
This enrages the skeleton king. "I AM LORD HERE! Answer me or suffer my wrath."
Crete smiles. "Last chance, give me my hammer."
"Aargh." Bellows the king as he lifts the hammer to strike at Crete, but to his surprise Crete grabs the skeleton king by the wrist preventing the attack from going any further.
"Foolish mortal, do you truly believe you can over power me?" Asks he king.
Crete grins, then he ever so slightly begins applying pressure the skeleton kings wrist. He begins forcing it to bend back, at first just enough for the king to notice, then a little more and the king begins to panic.
"Stop." Screams the king. "I demand you to stop!"
Crete laughs a deep belly laugh, then he begins applying a little more pressure to the wrist, this time past the joints normal range of motion.
CRACK! The skeleton king shrieks in pain as his wrist bone snaps. "Aaarrgh." His arm drops to his side and he watches in horror as Crete slowly unpeels the kings fingers one by one from his severed hand still gripping the hammer. When all the fingers have been loosened he then tosses the hand casually over his shoulder as sign of complete disrespect.
The skeleton king drops to his knees and Crete takes another step forward, he now towers over the king.
"You really should have given me my hammer back when you had the chance." Says Crete matter of factly.
The skeleton kings jaw drops open wide when the realization of Crete's words sink in...

Crete is not to be taken lightly. There probably won't be a piece of the Skeleton King bigger than a dust mite. Marvelous job!
