I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

A beautiful hibiscus shot. I'm so very sorry you had to endure such a terrifying experience. Ten hours is a lifetime, and to see all your things taken. Thank the heavens they didn't take the most precious, your life. I've missed you, Carin, and I'm so glad you are okay and back. I wish you the best, and a continued strong spirit.

I was going to comment on the title whether it meant you or the flower but I see it applies to you both. Such a terrible story! I am so glad you survived physically unhurt. I agree with Richard, DVDs are a must. You could also start copying your images from your gallery here. And perhaps a pair of large guard dogs? Great to see you have not lost your touch, this image is beautiful.

How appalling! So good you are phyically undamaged, Farin, but the horror will longer I expect . A delicious image to celebrate your return.

Oh Carin how awful & very scary. What gives these thugs the right to come into a persons home. How do you cope with something like that. Please take care, beautiful photo. xxxx

Hi C, so sad to hear that you were a victim of our reality. I too just keep an eye out here, sadly my camera is rather dusty.
Thanks for sharing the inspiring photo - proof that life does go on!

Hoop, jy is terug in bloei eweneens, lieverd
Hoping you are back in bloom as well, dear one! It is heartbreaking to read again what happened, dear Carin. I think, no one can imagine how big the impact is for you; and I hope I can say, "has been". You know I live very much with you, and I regret that I am too little in touch with you via fb. I am so very glad that you again can show one of your beautiful photos to us, the colors are intense nice, and the softness like satin. I was thinking of, in connection with any missing photos, you still have your photos from your gallery here; a small consolation, I know, but something. With much love and encouragement, God bless you, your Jacomina.

I love how you focus on the positive. The fact that you are alive to take more photos is wonderful. I hope very much you can continue to recover emotionally from your experience. This beautiful photo is gorgeous and shows you still have your talent.
Sending a big hug your way and so glad you are here.

Such a frightening thing to happen....someone took my computer, but I did have a lot backed up. Dropbox is a good place to store some pictures and I'm sure there's other sites. Glad your back and posting again.

OMG - what a shocking thing to read, that had happened to you and having to endure and experienced being tied up, (10 hours ! that would have freaked me out, one can only pray that they didn't hurt you... and thank heavens they left you physically unscathed - but what an enormous burden to carry around with you mentally... I feel for you Carin.
Welcome back and what a nice surprise to see you posting again and this is an absolutely lovely Hibiscus
