Description

Hi, The following posts are all from the 'Fly Navy' show at Shuttleworth, a fine affair once more.. These are a trio of Grumman 'Ironwork' fighters, two in Fleet Air Arm schemes.. All flown rather more lower AND closer than at Duxford in the past years.. This is how things used to be.. Hanger level and close and fast.. All owned by the Fighter Collection, and are as follows; Grumman F8F-2P Bearcat (leading - only one in Europe), Grumman Wildcat FM2 (rear - only one in Europe though, Shuttleworth have one under Restoration now), and Vought-Goodyear Corsair FG-1D, (not the only one in Europe!). This is partly the reason why I will not be attending Flying Legends, these will be there along with two others here on the day.. Rob

Two of my fav (naval) warbirds in one photo! Meaning the Corsair & Wildcat (Mk.VI in FAA parlance).

Great photo! Print-worthy in my book :)

Great that you can capture the life in these examples of how tail volume means nothing.

Great picture and brought out great memory. I was fishing in the middle of a canyon lake in AZ in my boat when a Cosair (did not have yellow nose though) I spotted from the sound was head straight for me at about 10-15 feet above the water. It past right over me and I could feel the wind as he past. He gave me a little wing wiggle after he past. Never had a rush like it. I assume since it was a canyon lake with cliffs on both sides he could get away with it since he would definitely be off radar. I had f-16's fly over on the same lake as there was a training base not to far away, but the were always I would say 1000 feet above the water.
