Description

Elephant Hill Trail at Canyonlands... To answer T.Rex's questions from yesterday, I don't know where the name Elephant Hill came from, but I suspect there is a rock formation somewhere on this trail that someone thought looked like an elephant - though I didn't see it. As for temperature & sun, we went in October & the temperature (as I recall) didn't get over 80 or so. There was very little shade to be found, though, on the entire trail & no water, so we used ample amounts of sunscreen & wore hydration backpacks & drank plenty of water. Please zoom.

Thanks for the info. Yes, October can be nice in desert lands. But, plenty sun screen's needed as you say (or a good parasol, but that would make carrying stuff a bit problematic). There must be plenty iron oxide in those red rocks. Keep up the good work. Am looking forward to more interesting formations! :-)

I have been doing summer projects so have not spent enough time on Renderousity to be caught up on commenting. I am so far behind I know I shall never catch up. However today I looked at and liked all of your photos . I love the Southwest red rock country . You got some really beautiful shots.

Great Scott, 80! It would ruin the outing for me. A superb photo, glad I can enjoy your hike in the cool.
