Description

Just a quick capture with my cell phone. This is Bilbo. I have made the decision that he is not releasable after many weeks. He has some brain damage. Bilbo is a screech owl. About 7 inches tall. When a screech owl sees something yhar they are not sure of, they try to disappear. They become tall and skinny. The tufts usually do not go up unless they think they have been spotted. This time it was a vacum hose. As he is living in the house with me, I am attempting to acclimate him to being around people. He is 8 weeks old.

At first I did not believe it was real. Amazing.

(How does one determine brain damage in an owl? I have a cat you can look at for diagnosis ...)

It sounds like you have a rescue thing going? Sweet little guy. Too bad he can never know the joy of the wild.

Awww..... he is SO cute! Going skinny like this makes him more difficult to be seen among tree branches. Brain damage? Seems you'll have him for a good while. But, I also assume you'll let him out so he's not always indoors. That would give you a bit of rest, too. But no missing where he's at - "Screech! Screech!" More, please! Keep up the good work! :-)
