Description

Owls are very opinionated. Screech more so. Bilbo likes to sit on the back of my chair while I am at the computer. He offers his opinion on many subjects. When he gets bored he gets on my shoulder and grooms my hair. I was asked about his neurological issues. A vet student that had no business working on animals sedated him with an injection. For those that do not know birds are never sedated with anything except gas. They stop breathing with anything else. Bilbo was healthy and about 10 days old. The student said he had to sedate him to "safely" examine him. I stayed up all night. He would stop breathing every 7-8 minutes. I breathed for him. 10 hours later I almost gave up. Then Bilbo stood up. He has some issues but is able to live fine with me. It breaks my heart that a healthy baby was broken and will not be free. I will keep him and love him. And, for Mike, "And pet him and call him George "

Makes me sad and elated at the same time! I bet George will never give a hoot about vet students either :) I hope he has a long and happy life with you!

Very expressive stance. He looks so good here. Nice to know that he really likes you. Now that I know the 'rest of the story (page two)' I'd love to slap that student around a bit for his stupidity.

thanks for the laugh! I have just finished watching that particular cartoon....

Was this student not supervised? Great Scott, what a fool! I love the story apart from that, I'm sure he will be very content with you.

OH MY GOSH! Incompetence galore! Just CAN'T believe it! BUT, I do, considering all I've been subject to by incompetent doctors who should have become plumbers instead! Just HOW did that student think he was to determine the correct weight of a bird (with all those feathers) in order to calculate dosage to weight? Not possible! Poor little Bilbo! However, with all the help he's received from you, he must have a very tight bond with you! Interesting to compare this with the other photo, when he's SO thin! Makes me wonder how he does the skinny act! I like the intense look in his eyes. He's thinking, and wondering. Any chance you can let us hear his "opinions"? Keep up the good work! :-) And here comes Kitty in my lap!

I don't do student vets, I know they have to learn but not on my animals they don't. I am lucky I have a superb vet with good backup. Thankfully he has you to care for him. xx
