The REAL DEAL...
Fire tender on hand, what you are looking at are some very BIG and very OLD WW1 heavy shifters..
Leading, is a McLaren 10NHP Road Locomotive #1332 'Gigantic'.. And it is very big and powerful.. I believe it is the biggest engine in the U.K., it came up from Devon for this show..
Its pulling.... an BL 8" Howitzer, Mk VI Siege Gun, designed by Vickers and produced by all the main manufacturers in the UK but mainly Armstrong also, one in the U.S.
They delivered a 200Ib shell 12,300 yards. Now as these are now very rare this was built as a replica as 'new' but non firing (shame!). It is FULL weight though...
Plus.... A trailer behind that.. It is original and weighted to carry 'no more than 8 tonnes!' Not much then.. The engine was hauling those two alone..
Behind her is another engine 'Dorothy', not sure what type.. But she is hauling the Collections own recently restored Thrashing engine from the 1930's
Smell was wonderful..
To the right of this shot was a large array of military vehicles..

FABULOUS !!!

I guessed these were heavy haulers for the military, WWI. They're too big and heavy for farm machinery (though I've seen photos of some big farm stuff in the US). NOT something you'd like to get a foot run over by! As for the photo - excellent work. And, you don't have to follow it at 250 mph with the camera! I bet the ground shook when they drove past. Nice they are kept in such fine order. Have any close-ups of them (watch your toes!)? Keep up the good work! :-)
