Description
Captured 5/1/16, at the beautiful Victorian Fair, held on the beautiful grounds of the beautiful Homestead Museum in beautiful City of Industry, California.
You, your mother, grandmother, aunt, great grandmother and/or great aunt, et al, may have used one of these productive pre-electical homestead devices in the past. I know my mom used a Singer, which I didn't see among this bunch. A ZOOM will reveal some of their names.
Postwork was required here to balance these pics out of their deep high contrast and shadow effects.

Gosh these even pre-date me though I did use one of these when I was in school. Singer came out with the treadle sewing machine after these which was what I used in high school. Thank goodness the power ones came out as I was hopeless with a treadle. I would be sewing along nicely when suddenly it would go in reverse if you got out of rhythm. Great captures.

A wonderful collection of sewing machines. I've sewn with a treadle, but never one of these hand crankers. i bought a fancy new one several years ago and hated it so much I dragged my mom's old Singer back out. It goes front and back and that's it and I love it!

They are so beautiful, with the gold scrollwork painted on them; I learned to sew on an old Singer, no foot treadle but probably one of the first electric foot pedal machines. Super shots of this array of lovely old machines!
