Description

These two guys were there early in the morning, before sunrise and before the barge went by our anchorage. They were skimming the surface of the water to catch any flotsam that may be drifting on the surface, such as plastic bottles, wrappers and anything else that may have been carelessly disposed of by tourists. Ha Long Bay is a World Heritage Site and the Vietnamese government is acutely aware of the potential for much needed currency that can be generated by the Tourist trade. They know that keeping the place in pristine condition, restrict commercial shipping to a minimum, and maintain the serenity of the area is important to their economy. A super photo! I think litter louts should be punished like in Singapore. Our beach was absolutely disgusting after last weekend, it costs thousands a year to clean.
