Description
Captured 6/5/16 @ 12:12 pm, at the beautiful Huntington Beach Concours d'Elegance held on the beautiful grounds of the Huntington Beach Central Park in beautiful Huntington Beach, California.
That rugged little transport this chap is standing on is not a lawn mower, but a Segway PT, a two-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered electric vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. It is produced by Segway Inc. of New Hampshire. The name Segway is derived from the word segue (/ˈsɛɡ-weɪ/), meaning smooth transition. PT is an abbreviation for personal transporter.
Computers, sensors, and electric motors in the base of the Segway PT keep the device upright when powered on with balancing enabled. The rider commands the PT to go forward or backward by shifting their weight forward or backward on the platform.

I don't know if this fellow was playing like a cop directing traffic, a receptionist and host, or maybe just another visitor to the event. He seemed to know what was going on.
ZOOM at all costs.

OH Yes, I have seen those before and I have even seen a few people in Copenhagen using such. And I have once seen how it was used. Excellent shots again Harry :-)

Have seen police on them in Chicago and a bunch of tourists all in a row like ducks... Didn't know how they worked...good info. Thanks.

I've always said that I would love to try riding one of these but I can't see that happening now as I seldom go out the door these days. They are using them down here at so many events as I am sure they are a lot of fun to use though I think they can be tricky to get right. I saw one the other day at a rugby match crash into a player so that wasn't great. Great captures Harry.
