Description
This is a WIP on a robot that I want to use for an animated short. His name is ALPHIE, which means nothing in particular :)
Modeled and rendered in Ray Dream 5.5. I REALLY need help (comments and suggestions) on how to shade and texture him since I'm pretty clueless on how those work, as of now. If you can provide some insight or ideas, I would /love/ to hear from you.
Currently, the head is the only part with an actual texture map on it, but I might change that in the future. Comments on it would be nice, too :)

You seam to be mixing and matching styles a little between the organic hands and the very square and angular body. This could work quite well if you take it a bit further. How about rivets along the edges of the body? How about making the tubular arms legs etc look more like hoses with a black and white stripy texture as a bump map?

i think those are some great suggestions.

Well, I would like the torso to be more smooth. However, when trying to subdivide the mesh, the center keeps getting a ridge in it so it is looking like I'll have to do it manually. And rivets and the like are in the plans, assuming everything behaves. The texture map on the head and the one that I have put on the torso (not shown) are the first ones I ever gotten to work ;)
