Description
Or at least it reminds me of crêpes suzette, or even plain old pancakes. Actually it's some sort of fungi growing on or out of a big tree trunk, captured 8/30/16 @ 8:24 am, while I was strolling along one of the lengthy sidewalks near home. When I first saw the fungi from a distance I thought someone had jammed several yellow gloves into the bark. Considering that the only other fungi I have ever seen around Southern California is of the mushrooms-on-the-lawn variety, the sight of this was stunning, yes, even shocking, and left me in a state of disbelief. It's just too hot and dry for such fungi to take hold around here. What sorcery is this? That said, I have more pics of similar fungi tree growth sitting in my files to post. Just stay tuned.
