The dark clad figure turns out to be a police detective who saw the light on in the study and let himself inside to find Hailey working late on the upper level cataloging the giant book collection. Hailey has come down the spiral stairs to mee him. As they approach their eyes come together and time seems to stop for an instant, decide which way to go, and resume its inexorable march into the future. Their hands come close but do not touch. Hailey speaks: “I,, I still have work to do. I guess I should feel safer knowing you are keeping an eye on the place. Good night, Arram” Arram: “Take care now, Hailey.” The story lurches forward. (Dedicated to the memory of StudioArtVartanian who created the marvelous character Aram who will be contributing so much to the future course of this story. And thanks to Maddelerium for Hailey, who comes across as a real person and of course BlueTreeStudios for the Modular Mansion where I am still finding surprises in its nooks and crannies.)
