Background: Hailey, a young librarian from the north of England, has been hired by a mysterious trust to catalog the library of an old mansion on the outskirts of London. She has been working all day in the library and by accident met Arram, a police inspector who has been keeping an eye on the house. Hailey is climbing the stairs heading back to her guest room and sees an open door and a light on the other side. No sign of movement so she cautiously steps through the door and finds herself in a nursery. A flood of hazy memories comes to her, family holidays in a big house, a doll house almost as big as she was. It must have been when she was very young, before she lost her parents in the accident. A strange coincidence, probably. Don’t all old houses look something alike? But ever since she stepped through the door the old house has seemed both scary and familiar at the same time.
