Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Color, pattern, texture, light & shadow - it's all there in this visually appealing abstract composition...

It looks like it could be one of my favorites as well, bright and stylish. Too many people become bland and colorless as they age. Keep fighting the good fight.

Just a coincidence...today while shopping...believe it or not...a scarf caught my attention. I just had to feel the material :) Aloha

I'm starting with October even though I haven't commented since mid August. It's just that it's hard to choose when I've been away a long time---but what better place to start than scarves! I luuuuv scarves! I have tons of them. (Unlike for women, there is so little flourish in men's clothing, so a scarf and tie are just about the only outlets we're "allowed".) You have a terrific collection---I've seen your pics of them---and I love it when you share them in your gallery.
This looks like cotton or linen (maybe), or some blend. I'd be surprised if it were wool, given the open weave. I love its patterns and bright hues, and I love the way it looks, scrunched up like that. Only a scarf lover would photograph a scarf like this--you know its music and rhythms. (Scarves have rhythms of their own.) You can never post enough of these, you know the expression, "she's a poet's poet"? Well this is a scarf-lover's scarf shot. Beautiful piece.
