Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

You've posted many mirror shots, and anyone who's loved your work knows it's one of your specialties. I love this because it's got open space in front of it, and lets us feel several interior spaces move back and around each other. The angle really brings out the mingling of all those spaces. And the darker tones---shadowed wall, the purple shadows in the foyer---make it introspective. Another of your beautiful interior mirror shots...I saw the flickr too, and loved it. But I've been a fan of your "flowers in the house" series a long time, and it's one of your series that has made it into conversations and emails with several RR-ites. (Tara, Helle, Ana, Lucinda.) An introspective and very inviting shot.
(Btw, that piece I just posted, on artworks flying visiting me? That was from a piece I started for you, for your birthday. I never finished it because so much was happening in my life, I couldn't get my head into it. But I took it, and made it into a shorter, sillier tale, and that's what I posted. But it was for you, Andrea. One day I'll post the original. ((The original was about a paint-blob in a Jackson Pollock, who grabs me in the Musuem of Modern Art and begs me to take him with me, because he hates Pollock. It went on from there and ended in a riot, where tons of strokes, etc, riot the museum and take it over. I couldn't finish it---it was a mess! But just know, the halloween piece started for you! One day I'll post the longer version, and tell everyone. Fact was, I was so unsure of the Halloween piece, I didn't want to associate it with anyone for fear that it would be a poor piece. I'll correct it somewhere along the line.)) I really appreciated your response.)
