Description

It was a calm, mild afternoon in Southern California when I saw several of these structures (?), designs (?). I don't know if people were inspired by the calm sea and mild December afternoon to gather the rocks and pile them on to of each other or if there is a meaning behind these. This picture was taken on the coast north of San Diego on 9 December, 2005, Sig...

It's art for sure. People have been doing this type of thing for thousands of years to say, "We were here." Great photo.

Rock stacking is a compelling activity, and the results are wonderful! If you don't know NefariousDrO here on RR, you should look at his gallery. He stacks rocks as a form of relaxation and meditation. Sometimes he shares his stacks.

I love the warm light there. I've seen the same kind of structures in Austria. They are always harmonious :-)

Always amazes me. This takes a special gift...one must feel the rock's balance point. They say it gets easier with practice and anyone can do it. Maybe...
