Description

Still in my house which was built in 1923 for an Edwardian gentleman with a maid and butler. The bell-pushes are still on the wall of each room but they are are not connected and anyhow if they were you'd be out of luck! The front and back door do ring an underdome bell below this box, and it is impossible to tell which door to go to. I have learned to live with that, by peeping out of the front window. I think this box might fetch up to £50 at auction (if I could be bothered.)

"And whom shall I say is calling, Sir?" "Lord Frothybottom." "Very good, Sir. I shall fetch the Master straight away. Follow me Sir. You can sit here in the waiting room or wait there in the sitting room."

Such a fancy accessory. One question, are you doing your Inktober artwork in the drawing room?

That just has to stay with the house.

Like this quote about the Edwardian Era by Samuel Hynes, "A leisurely time when women wore picture hats and did not vote, when the rich were not ashamed to live conspicuously, and the sun really never set on the British flag".
