I agree with helle and your son, and esp about your creativity. This is a 'street shot' of shoes, with the same random music that photojournalists get of people---of their rhythms and interactions on a street. Love the strewn feeling of it. The frontmost pair---the shoes with the holes in them---has one pair turned on its side; and the scattered debris on some of the sandals is wonderful. As is the skew of the right-most flip-flops, one going one way, the other going the other. I also like that all the open space is on the bottom, while everything starts to cramp, on top. And the light's on the bottom too, not on the top. Wonderful "underside" shot; and the focus is fine too, as your son says. Fine eye on you, and treatment. I wonder if the owner knows you memorialized his/her strewn shoes with your camera...
