Description
At last, my love has come along
my lonely days are over, and life is like a song
At last, the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped in clover
Every since the night I looked at you
~ Etta James

Well, it finally happened. After an engagement lasting two years my youngish friend (he’s forty) Gabriel married his fiancée Heather.

I love this series. This shot could've been a ho-hum 'wedding' shot, the kind you see in albums or in ads for a wedding photographer; but you produced a beautiful portrait. Your golds are rich; and the light on the flowers is golden too. And the angle with the hat in back, and that touch of blue beneath it, are really fine as well. As are the shadows. As for Etta James...I haven't heard her stuff in an eon, but I remember her having a big strong voice, and singing blues (and gospel, and r and b), which makes lyrics like these really heavy, since you know she's been through a s___load before she found that lover. The pic doesn't say 'etta james', but your next pics suggest the conflicts and humor that she might have sung about. This is a beautiful introduction to the series.
Thanks for your comments, as always, and "deck the halls with matzo balls" (I think that's what you wrote) is something I'd pay to see. Did I ever tell you that my mom made them so hard, they doubled as golf balls? Everyone else I know makes them soft---they bounce---but hers broke furniture. (My grandfather used to say, "drop this from a height of 4 feet? You could kill a dog.") Anyway, thanks for your comments to me and everyone else, they're always a big treat for me and as I go through the galleries. And you're thinking of a motorcycle trip? Remember that film about Che Guavara's motorcycle trip through S. America? ("Motorcycle Diaries"---I think that's what it was called.) That's what I picture you doing. You've got guts to do this after the age of 40; and if you do, I'll be waiting for each piece of your diary and photo-log.

So good Mark. Sorry it took me this long to look back through your gallery. Needless to say, I'm very hit and miss at Rendo. But you are a constant with your comments (that reminds me of a brand of tea)...thanks a million for that. I wore the same hat for more than 20 years. Love the composition and simplicity of your photo.
