Description
A re-post of one of my first renders. I still do not have my computer back so I still am not commenting as I am forced to use my old Vista Computer with it's small monitor which I can barely see. Eye Dr., says I need surgery. My computer which I got in late April had a Titan X but that model is no longer made as now has Pascal chip. Manufacture offered to replace with 1080, and I decided to pay for another 1080 connected SLI, however before it was shipped to me the manufacturer had me do a remote render. I used DAZ DS 4.9 and was bummed at how slow it was. I checked the GPU with program nVidia had me put on system before I had sent the computer back. The program informed me that the 2 video card were under no load. I called DAZ which was a waste of time. I even called Smith Micro another waste of time. Then made multiple calls to nVidia at first I got the run around until I mention Iray, which happens to be an nVidia program. They informed me that none of their GTX cards support Iray. Only their Quatro cards support Iray. I had the manufacture put a 2 generation old K5000 in the machine and did a test render. The render took a little over 30 minutes with max load of 100% on GPU, So today I bit the bullet and paid to have a p5000 installed to the system. I emailed DAZ that the info about DS on their web site is in error/ Probably another waste of time. Smith Micro did email me stating that did have a problem with the new pascal chip but were working with nVidia for a fix.

Luckily for me, I don't feel the need to use iray, lol.

You have come so far rendering! I'm glad at least SM emailed you back. :o I'm still amazed that D/S doesn't use the 1080, it seems like a perfect match since they are so proud of their partnership with nVidia!

I hope your problems solve. Miss you.

Well, so much for Iray, and just when I was enjoying it too. I think the 980ti is the last card that supports Iray. Even Autodesk was behind Iray (for 3D StudioMax). They'll likely dump support and go back full tilt with mental ray.

Fantastic Work,

Yeah, I'm really surprised about the GTX cards not supporting Iray... Especially since the 1080 seems to be THE card for HD gaming and such. I have to wonder what the next update to DS will support..... I'm assuming there will be a DS 5.0 at some point....
Awesome render, Rick! Hope to see you back when the computer issues are resolved. Merry Christmas, my friend!
