Description

This is Gabriel’s family with parents Benjamin and Estrella front and center. I’ve heard it said that the happiest woman at a wedding is the bride but Gabriel has three sisters, all married, all with children. So when it comes to the happiest woman at this wedding, my money is on Mama Estrella.

I can't end the year without finishing off your most recent pieces. ("Finishing off" sounds like I came in with a SWAT team and decimated the whole gallery. Sorry 'bout that! Not at all what I meant...) You gotta know: Full size, this is pure eye candy. I love the family feel, and the mix of humans and dress in this shot. In full view, we can see everything: I love Gabriel's (I assume) military shoes---those highly polished (I assume again) patent leather shoes, with the striped pants. We see the father's (Benjamin'a) beautiful pin striped suit, and his beautiful old polished shoes. And the polish on his mother's shoes, etc. And the faces are wonderful. Some are quizzical. Some smiling. Some very intense. I love the tattoo on one of the sister's arms---he's almost another character in the shot. And Estrella's expression: Yes, she looks happy. But she also has the weathered look of a mother who's seen it all. Gabriel looks so happy here. This has gotta be seen full: Wonderful clarity and presence. You can do my wedding anyday. (You'll have a long wait for that! I almost married years ago, but I didn't know you then.) Really fine portrait, Mark.
