Description
Today is the birthday of one of my favorite artists and friends, Jacomina. I do not want the day to go by without a post in her honor for she is a kind, sensitive person whose inner beauty shines through in her art and her actions. She is truly an amazing person whom I have been fortunate enough to meet in person. So for you Jacomina...Gefeliciteerd met jouw verjaardag. I hope you have a most wonderful day filled with all the things you love. And I wish you many more birthdays to celebrate. You make this world a better place.
This is one of my first oil paintings. I have not taken many photos lately nor hardly been on RR, but I hope to return to more activity sometime in the future. In the meanwhile I wish everyone a happy holiday season.

I am so glad that I have the honor to see this the first, and also get such a wonderful gift for my birthday.
Now I know why you came to the Netherlands, here you will feel more comfortable, being surrounded by all our fames (painting) masters; you, as a great mistress (LOL) are one of them!

Oh, lieve Katherine, vandaag ontdek ik plotseling een groot talent, namelijk: JIJ. Wat ben ik blij, dat ik de eer heb om dit als eerste te mogen aanschouwen, en dit ook nog krijg als een prachtig cadeau voor mijn verjaardag. Nu weet ik waarom je naar Nederland bent gekomen, hier zal je je prettiger voelen, zijnde omringd door al onze grote (schilder-) meesters'; jij , als grote meesteres (LOL) bent een van hen. Well, en wat je schrijft over het maken deze wereld een betere plek, ik was zo blij je te ontmoeten, en om te weten, zo iemand ben jij ook. Jacomina wrote a beautiful response to you, and your words to Jacomina were wonderful. (I sent her something privately, as I did Denise and Helle.) (I'm not doing many online dedis this season, though I'll do one in public in a few days, for someone who's been ill...but that's about all my public dedis this season...) Jacomina deserves all you wrote, and you deserve all she wrote. This is one of your first oil paintings? I die to think of what we've not seen of yours. It may be an early oil, but you have the light, the shadow, the highlights on the grapes, the mystery of open space (in a still life, not easy to capture) and a smooth and delicate brush as well. It's a wonderful offering for a friend of yours---and it's great that you two actually got to visit. I've met about 6 people from RR---all from the States---and it was great. A beautiful dedi, and the painting is a real gift.
