Description
With all the buying of gifts and scurrying about it is so very easy to forget the reason for Christmas.
What are we celebrating?
The coming of God's son into our nature of flesh and blood. Being in a human frame, he experienced all the joy, pain (carpenter - splinters = OUCH! Hammer mashed thumb = OUCH!), sorrow and so on that we suffer. He knows how it feels to be human.
He came to share our situation. And knew first hand our problems with sin/wrong doing, and that we needed to be saved from the consequences of our misdeeds. The ultimate victory, freeing us and allowing us to return to God as His children came with Easter. But without being born as a human this victory would not have been possible.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Merry, for what joy there is in being freed from all ones agonizing mistakes.

Lovely nativity scene. Fully agree, it's a shame how Christmas has become so commercialised.
I've actually seen Playmobil versions of the Three Wise Men, Mary, Joseph and the Holy Infant Himself. They even come with the stable. Real lovely. Have you seen them?
