Description

It would appear that Simon has decided to put a premature end to our yearly chess match with Sunsirae. Nevertheless he still expects Santa to deliver him tuna - chunky, not flaked - for his Christmas treat tomorrow. That is so kitty.
Cats will do that. Just as surely as Lilly is now trying to prance on my laptop keyboard. Yes, I know she knows that she's gorgeous. Well, the gifts are wrapped and under the tree at last. Very soon I will be watching 'The Masque of Mandragora', a personal favourite from the Tom Baker era of 'Doctor Who'. Filmed at none other than the lush and beautiful Portmeirion resort of North Wales - the very same Portmeirion of 'The Prisoner' fame. In 'Mandragora', Portmeirion takes the form of the (15th Century) renaissance Italian city of San Martino. Therein, a cosmic force conspires with an ancient cult to destroy Western enlightenment and pull mankind back into an everlasting dark ages. Every scene is sumptuous, colourful and atmospheric. It is BBC period re-creation at its very best and yet NOT another homage to gloomy and dirty Victorian London. The only criticism I might level upon 'The Masque of Mandragora' is that it is the first serial to use the serif font titles for each episode. Disposing of the bolder and more apt block letter titles which introduced 'Doctor Who' stories since Jon Pertwee's final year. The serif format would be maintained for another four years. A very big thanks again to Kat (aka. Giana here at Renderosity) for creating the beautiful Sunsirae for V3. A character who always steals the show on Christmas Eve. And thanks again to DAZ3D for providing the Victoria 3 base character for free so many years ago. Merry Christmas everyone! Hope to see you soon in the New Year.
