Description

Antique railroad watch Union Pacific Railroad Museum Council Bluffs, Iowa September, 2016 I opened my account on Renderosity ten years ago today. My first posts were Blender 3D and digital paintings, and after a couple of months I got brave and posted some poetry in the Writers Gallery. When I started taking texture shots for my 3D work, I got hooked on the camera. Three months after I posted my first Blender piece, my gallery was almost exclusively photography. When I started, I couldn't figure out Photoshop to save my life, but even that became second nature after a while. Renderosity has been a wonderful place to share my art, learn loads of new things, and make friends in far-flung places. I have met 21 Renderosity members in person, and every one of them has been exactly as you would have expected them to be. I met Bill (bmac62) and liked him so well I married him! My friends here have supported me through the tough times, celebrated the good times, been generous with their praise, and taught me a huge amount about art. My participation here these days isn't what it's been in the past, but I haven't given up yet. Interest, inspiration and motivation ebb and flow, and I'm looking forward to a time when Renderosity has a more prominent place in my life again. I've got loads of photographs to share, and have been working on other creative projects ... it isn't that I'm lacking creative inspiration ... just that I'm lacking the motivation to sit down at the computer and post pictures and comment! I look at your work frequently, and sometimes spend a bit of time commenting, but I've lost the rhythm and flow of being here every day. Ah well. Life goes on. This place is still important enough to me that I remember my RR anniversary without looking it up! Here's a favorite Ten Years After song, in case you need a hippie flashback moment: Ten Years After -- I'd Love to Change the World

And I joined October 29, 2003, after having viewed Renderosity since its beginning. Makes for about 16+ years! Much of my work has been photo or compositing Poser figures into reality. Glad you've stuck with Rendo all these years. And the railroader's watch sure conveys a feeling of passing time. Hope to see more of your posts soon. Wishing you and Bill a Happy New Year! :-)

congratulations on 10 years---it's a long time, and you went through a lot and had some huge changes in your life in that time, and you met your future husband here, along with a bunch of friends, and you accumulated a huge and powerful gallery of artworks, along with being a prominent member of several communities and forums here, and having a strong effect on the changes in the site, where you worked hard to at least try to bring some sense to the people who were changing things. (I say 'try', because I'm well aware that you and Rod and some others didn't always get through to the powers that be...but you tried, god knows.) And you developed a very loyal following too.

You made me actually look at my 'entry' date: I'll hit my 9th year in february, but I haven't been in as many places here as you have, or had the influence either; so I can truly appreciate all you've accomplished here. You also won awards in all your main arts, which is a big thing to celebrate. So even if you only come back from time to time, you left an indelible mark, and were one of the artists who helped keep rr's artistic quality at its peak. So I thank you for your 10 years and I hope there are many more. And btw: I love the image, both for the great old pocket watch, and for the closeup and clarity and light on the thing. (And shadow.) It feels intimate in your capture, and I love the detail. Congratulations, Tara, you explored the reaches of all the fields you were in, and left a real mark on several you weren't in, and it's safe to say that RR bears your presence in many ways. Many more years, in great health and inspiration; and thanks for celebrating this with all of us.

After reading your title I vaguely remembered Ten Years After as being a decent band. And then there it was, your link. Of course I had to go listen to it. The page was filled with other songs from the sixties and I had to listen to some of them as well.

I'm back after my trip down the rabbit hole. What were we talking about again? Oh yes, I remember having lunch with you and Bill two days before you did the deed so that's been six years.

I have to second the other's opinion. You have a wonderful ability to drill down into the fine details. And your work with light and shadow is superb. I always am glad to see anything from you, poem, illustration, photo, anything. Congratulations on ten years. Here's to ten more years.

flashbacks---oh my, what are those funny lights and shadows I'm seeing??

10 years---wow, what a long, strange trip it's been. it's been such along time, i can't keep track of when i did what, how or why. but who cares---RR has been an amazing place. changes aren't fun, and everytime they make them, i go a bit crazy---and call you for help!! heck, you got me to chicago, where we met a BUNCH of people, walked half the town, ate at rezas TWICE and had the BEST time.

10 years after---looking forward to the next 10, my friend! now i have to go back and how long i've been around!!

Well, it's a bit over seven for me.... And the fact I've met so many awesome folks here (like you and Bill) is one of the BIG reasons I've stuck around through some of the half-baked 'revolutions' Rendo has inflicted on us over the years. And why they will have to fark up big time to run me off (I hope they don't take that as a challenge LOL).

I do hope to see more of your (and Bill's) wonderful photos in the coming year. And I also downloaded Blender and installed it on my new machine - so I may bug the hell out of you if I ever get time to play with it. And I do plan on having time....... This will be the year I chuck the day job and retire - whether I can afford it or not...

I've been at RR since Feb 2004, but didn't post art until Sept 2007. So the ten year anniversary of making art will count more.

Great image of the pocket watch. One slight ding, but clearly stood the test of time. Just like many of us at Rendo.
