I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

I hope you managed a visit to Tate Modern! I've not seen this view before, wonderful!

of course the notorious London fog had to be in the picture. I would enjoy seeing it in person

Great POV

Superb capture Carin. God bless.

this looks like a great place to wander around

Is that big brick building with green roof an art museum? If so, what's its name? Nice photo. I find the fog nice, belongs in London, like a trade mark! Keep up the good work! :-)

What's London without a little fog?

Wonderful capture.

Nice and crisp despite the London atmosphere. Looks like everyone is dressed in black as they walk briskly through the thoroughfare, Carin. I assume this was a color shot despite its mono appearance.

Another fine icon, but a very 'new' one to me - it almost gives the appearance, from this angle, of being very steep and one could slip easily on a wet & icy cold day - what a fun picture that would be, all those people sliding downwards ? LOL, such an interesting capture, thanks for sharing it Carin, it's something I would probably never see, such a pity - but you just never know !

Wonderful cityscape - very well composed image & to my mind the fog is an asset rather than a liability. I've only been to London once & that was over 40 years ago - it's obviously changed a lot & I would love to go back someday. I'm assuming, like T.Rex, that the building in the background is an art museum, unless Rauschenberg, Tillmans, Giacometti & Modigliani are a new hip law firm...

Super shot, lots to look at.

T.Rex and Claude - it is a semi-permanent art exhibition. We did not have time to go in - maybe next time!

yes, to Claude and others, that's a museum back there: The Tate Modern, a major museum. With Andrea, I hope you had time to see it. (New York's Museum of Modern Art is probably the most massive of all Modern Art museums, but the Tate is supposed to be major as well.) Anyway, another great shot of the massing of things in a city, I just love your composition. It's great to see you shooting in huge cities: The buildings on either side give such varied geometrics, while the open space in the middle is filled with people; And the bridge back there is 'lit' like it were a ghost. (I know it's not lit, but the light on it makes it seem so.) The museum is a ghost for sure, grayed out by the fog. I'm with Claude again, that the fog is part of the beauty: You used it rather than worked around it. A terrific massed photo, people and architecture-wise. And you really let the fog have its say. Love it. (It's very, very good to see you back here, Carin.)
